Rent is placed on one end of the scales and standard of living on the other. Somehow, it must balance. What do you give up? 10 bucks a week or a bigger room further away from the city? I'm not sure how to do a cost/benefit analysis, 10 bucks a week is seeming negligible (2%) and a bigger room has no direct benefit (it's bigger i can put more stuff in). Do I need a bigger room? how big before it's big enough? As big as my old room? Everything comes down to dollars, and sacrifices.
For now a bed under a roof will do, costing me 26% of my possible weekly income. Tomorrow, maybe a room in a Queenslander with a spacious deck, outdoor spa 2 friendly small dogs and a female roommate (16%). Or maybe a granny flat (19%)?
*fingers and toes crossed* So too the point, how much rent is too much rent? 10% or 30%?
This is why it's good to be rich, everything just becomes negligible.

i should say you'd rather spend 25% or less of your net income for rent/mortgage to be able to live a little more comfortably! :)
yeah, you're right! it's good to be rich coz everything just becomes negligible, but then when you're in that point in life, there seems to be no more meaning to life coz everything else is there, you don't even have to dream about it, you don't even have to work hard for it - the thrill is gone!
How do you live in a Queenslander?
extra 16% for female roommate is potentially a bargain?

Hey, do you always ask yourself lots of rhetorical questions?!
Your blog makes me laugh.
ingrid - thanks for your words, you are quite right, the thrill in life is in chasing dreams.
matty - queenslander is a typical brisbane house, its hard to explain, the top level is living, the bottom level is like storage garage or also living...

sarah - HELLO =) mmm.. perhaps i do, though i'm glad that its funny at least.
jc - unilodge? mortgage? im staying at brisbane city backpackers mate. I didn't mention i can cook, i didn't mention i was good at computers. I'm very not good at selling myself =) *fingers crossed* lets hope i still made a good enough impression =P
